2024 Variety Show
On Friday, April 26th Lindbergh 3rd, 4th and 5th graders dazzled a full audience of students, family, staff and community members with their amazing talents. Thank you to our FANTASTIC Variety Show Chairs: Anna and Kevin Dewey for organizing this spectacular show and encouraging our Lindbergh students to be confident in their unique talents. A big thank you to Ms. Greenia, Jessica Corbin, Jasmine Leciejewski, and all our helpful volunteers!
A special message from Anna & Kevin
This year’s Variety Show was a huge success! All of the students did a fantastic job putting together a great production. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication, and impressed by all the talent at Lindbergh.
Our 17 individual acts this year included hula-hooping, vocal, flute and piano soloists, dancing and gymnastics, joke-telling and Rubik’s cube-solving. We also welcomed new performances like soccer-dribbling skills, an art showcase and some incredible beatboxing! Lindbergh’s Music Club, directed by Ms. Greenia played their ukuleles and sang the popular song “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons. We truly had a variety of talents.
Not to be discounted, is the magic that happens behind the scenes. Our two fifth-grade stage managers led a large crew of 11 students on the stage crew backstage. During the course of rehearsals, the stage crew learned how to set and “strike” (clear) specific equipment for each performer, like mics, music stands and tumbling mats. The curtain had to be opened and closed on cue, and the stage crew kept the show moving along seamlessly thanks to our stage managers.
Weaving the whole production together were our 6 dynamic announcers. They began the evening with a comedic teaching of “theater etiquette” for the audience. They took turns introducing each act and performer, nicely setting the scene for everyone. The Variety Show also included the group number “Make Some Noise” by Kidz Bop Kids, where the whole ensemble and stage crew sang onstage, and several performers wowed us with their cartwheels, backbends and gymnastics.
The Variety Show was a production that each of the 44 students should be very proud of. It took team work and the flexibility to be ready for anything, because as they say, “the show must go on!” It takes a lot of guts to get on stage in front of an audience. Every participant was so positive and supportive of one another, cheering and encouraging one another. It was truly a beautiful thing to witness. Usually in a production, the actors wait backstage until it’s their turn to perform. But for Lindbergh’s Variety Show, we feel it’s important for the participants to be able to watch one another and witness the magic of the performance together as a cast.
We could not have made this magic without all the support of Lindbergh’s amazing parents, the PTA Board, administrators, custodial staff (sorry for all the leaky juice boxes!), and especially Ms. Greenia, whom we booted out of her “classroom” each Monday with our unruly chaos. Jessica and Chris Corbin (with a patient baby Jameson) made amazing cast and crew t-shirts for the whole ensemble. Jasmine Leciejewski provided all our creative artwork and signage, and guided the participants in creating posters to hang around the entire school. Nora Farhat stepped up to coordinate and provide what is probably the best “afterglow” (reception) I have ever seen. There are so many people to thank, please take a moment to read through the credit list of all the amazing people below. We could not have done any of this without the team effort (and patience) of everyone involved.
A big thank you to the families, students and teachers who came out to see the show. It was so memorable hearing the audience sing along and cheer wildly for their friends. Thank you for your support in the Arts and encouraging these students to express their creativity and talent to the world.
